THE MOST HOSPITABLE CITY
BANGKOK
The top hospitable city by international
visitor arrivals in 2013 is Bangkok, according to the MasterCard Global
Destination Cities Index. Bangkok is the capital and
the most populous city of Thailand. This is the first time an Asian city
is in top rank since the Index was launched in 2011.
Hospitality was measured on a variety of
factors including cleanliness, ease of check-in, communication, value and
accuracy.
Bangkok began as a small trading center
and port community on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River some 200 years
ago. Today, while the city is up to speed with modern times, the grandeur and
glory of its illustrious past still prevails. Be it dazzling temples,
spectacular palaces, a world-famous floating market or colorful Chinatown, each
of these famous places has an intriguing story.
Bangkok welcomes more visitors than any
other city in the world and it doesn’t take long to realise why. This is a city
of extremes with action on every corner: Marvel at the gleaming temples, catch
a tuk tuk along the bustling Chinatown or take a longtail boat through floating
markets. Food is another Bangkok highlight, from local dishes served at humble
street stalls to haute cuisine at romantic rooftop restaurants.
Lebua State of The Art Tower, Luxury mall, compete with a sea of boutiques and markets,
where you can treat yourself without overspending. Extravagant five-star hotels
and trendy hostels welcome you with the same famed Thai hospitality. And no
visit to Bangkok would be complete without a glimpse of its famous nightlife –
from cabarets to exotic red-light districts, Bangkok never ceases to amaze.
Bangkok hotels range from luxury
international chain to one-off boutique with only a few rooms. Business
travellers will feel right at home at one of the high-end hotels in Ploenchit-Chidlom and Sukhumvit areas, while enthusiastic shoppers might want to
stay in or nearby Siam, where glittering mega-malls are just a few steps
away from the hotel’s doorstep.
Khao San
and Silom
are the epicenters of Bangkok’s pulsating nightlife scene and both offer an
extensive lineup of hotels that cater to a wide range of budgets. If culture
and history is a major part of your trip, then stay close to the riverside for
easy access to the Old City’s attractions,
including Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Arun, the Grand Palace and Wat Pho.

A very enjoyable read. The adjectives used to describe Bangkok and its scenery truly give the reader a sense of being present at all of the locations mentioned and experiencing the ambiance of the city. Having a short description of some of the areas mentioned would have been helpful to give the reader an understanding of what the place/ item is. Overall I believe this is a good capture of Bangkok.
